This advice to finding the “baby bear” niche is very useful! It can be a good use of time to wander around the web looking at sites of others who are targeting the same kinds of people that you are. Are their sites navigable? What is their pricing like relative to the quality of their work? Is it handmade by the artist or by several people? These clues can help you create a statement on your website or Etsy to distinguish your items. For example, just saying something is “handmade” isn’t enough- explain what goes into the item, what are its features?
